As a real estate photographer I get to see many houses. Most houses don't stand out that much from one another. Occasionally you come across a magical house that for you, has that little something extra. Of those houses, this one in Duffy St Ainslie stuck out as one that I would love to live in. It's magnificent.
From the outside, this house still looks like a humble little ex-government house (quite common in Canberra) with little to tell you that its an architecturally redesigned home.
It's split over three levels as the building follows the natural slope of the block with a flow that photography can't quite do justice to.
The entryway is an appealing start that leads you into an open plan lounge, dining and study. The master bedroom is big and beautifully laid out. It has both a walk in robe that my partner would die for and an ensuite bathroom as well.
The kitchen has a level all to itself. While the dining and 2 additional bedrooms are down on the lowest level. Even though the kitchen is upstairs from from the dining and a few stairs down from the main living area, it is still open enough to be a social environment.
The architects of this house have created a design with so many great features and small surprises. The angled walls off the side of the dining area allow you to capture different views out over the garden including a view down the length of the pond. Outside, the professionally landscaped gardens include a deck off the living room and a paved patio for entertaining. They've really thought about this home both inside and out as spaces flow almost seamlessly into one another.
LJ Hooker Dickson sold this beautiful property for 1.1 million.
A big job and a tight deadline. Adshel provide advertising at bus shelters across Canberra's bus network. They have 150+ sites and cover all major town centres…
This house truly revolves around the kitchen with five rooms and all the living areas spread evenly around the heart of the home. The kitchen is within easy reach from the entry way, lounge room and even 4 of the 5 bedrooms are just a few steps away.
